In exchange for the training, race entry and other benefits that you will receive as a member of Team In Training's Marathon Team, we require that you raise the a minimum for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
These minimums are based on the expenses the Team spends on your training and your event. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society prides itself on maintaining a 25% expense ratio and these minumums guarantee 75 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the Cause. We strongly encourage you to set a personal goal above and beyond!
In order to help you reach your fundraising goals, we have arranged a fundraising clinic that will immediately follow the Kick-off on January 28th. Additionally, staff and mentors are good resources to help you in obtaining your fundraising goal. If you have any questions, your Campaign Manager & Campaign Coordinator are available throughout the workweek to assist you. Once the program begins, your mentor (and a fundraising captain) will also be a key person (people) to help you with your fundraising.
Start Your Fundraising Today!!!
As a Team In Training Marathon runner / walker, you are setting your sights on ambitious but achievable fundraising goal. The one key that will assist you more than any other in reaching your minimum is to begin raising funds right away. Often with the newness and excitement of training, the impulse is to put fundraising on the backburner for a bit—do not do this! The TNT Marathon session is short and you will want to begin it with a strong fundraising effort. That way, you will be able to ease off the fundraising as your training kicks into high gear.
Stay Organized
Keep a record of those whom you’ve asked for donations - a spreadsheet is ideal! You will want all donated funds to come back to in the form of checks made out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (or LLS) or via Visa or MasterCard (use the Donor Forms to record this information). Cash is not traceable for accounting purposes; you must convert cash donations into checks and keep a record of cash donors. Keep careful records of all funds received!
Always remember the big picture as to why you joined Team In Training. The fundraising you are doing for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the patients it serves is important, unique, and generous. We are all proud to be a part of your team. Have fun!
